Software for Textile Manufacturing
Mill production from yarn to finished fabric, where count, width and weight change at every stage and loss has to be accounted for between them.
A mill converts fibre or yarn into fabric through stages that each change what is being measured — kilograms of yarn become metres of grey fabric, which shrink and gain weight in processing. Loss between stages is normal and expected within a norm; loss beyond it is money. The mill needs the conversion recorded stage by stage, by loom or machine, so that it can tell which is which.
What gets in the way
- Yarn issued by weight and fabric produced by length are never reconciled
- Loom efficiency and breakdowns are recorded on shift registers nobody totals
- Shrinkage and weight gain in processing are assumed, not measured per lot
- Job-work processing houses return less than was sent
- Fents, rags and seconds are sold without being counted against the lot
What the software handles
- Yarn issued to looms or machines by lot and count
- Production recorded per loom and shift with efficiency and stoppages
- Grey fabric received and inspected by piece
- Processing lots sent and received with length and weight reconciliation
- Finished fabric graded, with fents and seconds recorded
What changes
- Conversion loss measured per stage against its norm
- Loom efficiency visible per shift
- Processing house losses caught per lot
