We connect a read-only view of your business data to Looker Studio reports.

Looker Studio, formerly Google Data Studio, is a widely used tool for building dashboards that can be shared as easily as a Google Doc. For teams already in Google Workspace, it is a practical way to show business figures to owners, partners and managers who do not log in to the business system, and to combine them with website or marketing data.

What we build with it

  • Sharing a dashboard with someone who has a Google account and no system login
  • Combining business data with Google Analytics or Sheets in one report
  • Scheduled report delivery by email

How it works

  1. We prepare a read-only reporting view containing only approved tables and fields.
  2. Looker Studio connects to it through a database connector, or through an intermediate store such as BigQuery or Google Sheets.
  3. Reports are built with charts, filters and date ranges on that data.
  4. Reports are shared with chosen Google accounts, and can be emailed on a schedule.

Data exchanged

  • Read-only rows from the tables in scope

What is needed to set it up

  • A Google account
  • A read-only connection scoped to approved tables
  • A connector configured for that source

Good to know

  • The standard version of Looker Studio carries no licence fee. A paid Pro version adds team and management features.
  • A direct database connection requires the database to accept connections from Google's servers, so copying data to BigQuery or Sheets is often the safer route.
  • Anyone a report is shared with sees its data, so share reports with care.
