We connect your business events to an SMS gateway for one-time passwords, alerts and short notifications.

SMS still reaches every mobile phone, including basic handsets and phones with no data connection. That makes it the dependable channel for login codes and for short alerts that must arrive even when a customer is not on WhatsApp or email.

What we build with it

  • One-time passwords for login or verification
  • Payment received and payment due alerts
  • Delivery and dispatch notifications
  • A fallback channel when a WhatsApp message cannot be delivered

How it works

  1. Something happens in your system — a user requests a login code or a payment is recorded.
  2. The system builds the message from a registered template, filling in only the variable parts such as the amount or code.
  3. It sends the message to your SMS provider's API with your registered sender ID.
  4. The provider passes it to the telecom network, which checks it against your registered template before delivery.
  5. A delivery report comes back and is stored against the record, so failed messages can be retried or followed up.

Data exchanged

  • Mobile number
  • Message text
  • Sender ID and template reference
  • Delivery receipt status

What is needed to set it up

  • An account with an SMS gateway provider
  • DLT registration of your business, sender ID and message templates, as required in India
  • API credentials configured server-side

Good to know

  • In India, commercial SMS must go through DLT registration. A message that does not match an approved template is blocked by the network, so templates need to be registered before launch.
  • Providers charge per message, and longer messages count as more than one SMS. Rates are set by your provider and billed to your account.
  • Promotional messages follow stricter rules than transactional ones, including time-of-day limits and do-not-disturb preferences.
