We connect report output and bulk data import in your system to Google Sheets.
Spreadsheets are where many owners, managers and accountants prefer to look at figures. A sheet that fills itself with the latest sales or stock report saves someone exporting, downloading and uploading every week, and the sheet can be shared with people who have no login to the business system.
What we build with it
- Scheduled export of sales or stock reports
- Bulk product or customer import from a prepared sheet
- Sharing figures with an accountant who works in spreadsheets
How it works
- You choose the report, the target spreadsheet and the tab it should write to.
- On a schedule, or when a user clicks export, the system runs the report and writes the rows into the sheet.
- For imports, the system reads rows from a sheet, checks each one against its rules and shows what will be created or changed.
- Once a user confirms, valid rows are saved and any rejected rows are listed with the reason.
Data exchanged
- Report rows and columns
- Import records
- Sheet and tab references
What is needed to set it up
- A Google account
- OAuth authorisation
- A target spreadsheet and tab
Good to know
- Google Sheets has a limit on the number of cells in a spreadsheet, so very large histories are better served by a reporting tool.
- Anyone the sheet is shared with can see the figures in it. Share report sheets as carefully as you would the reports themselves.
- Formulas and charts you add on a separate tab keep working as the data tab is refreshed.
