We connect document storage in your system to OneDrive and OneDrive for Business.
If your organisation runs on Microsoft 365, your files probably already live in OneDrive. Linking those files to the records in your business system means staff find a customer's documents from the customer's page, while the files stay in storage your organisation already manages and backs up.
What we build with it
- Storing documents against a customer or matter
- Attaching proofs to transactions
- Document backup
How it works
- A user uploads a document to a record in the system, or the system generates one.
- The system saves the file into the designated OneDrive folder through Microsoft Graph, creating a sub-folder per customer or matter where needed.
- The OneDrive file ID and link are stored on the record.
- Opening the document from the system fetches it from OneDrive, subject to the user's Microsoft permissions.
Data exchanged
- File contents and names
- Folder paths
- Share links
What is needed to set it up
- A Microsoft 365 account
- OAuth authorisation
- A designated document folder
Good to know
- Storage is counted against your Microsoft 365 plan, and any additional storage is bought from Microsoft.
- Files kept in one employee's personal OneDrive can become hard to reach when that person leaves. For shared business records, a SharePoint library or a shared folder is safer.
- Your Microsoft 365 administrator may need to approve the application before it can access files.
